Belarusians using this method get such a rich harvest that they pickle cucumbers in barrels.

Last spring, we went to visit relatives in Belarus and brought from there a method of planting cucumbers in the ground, which my aunt, Vera Kirillovna, has been using for more than a dozen years.  For planting, she prepares the following components: humus, wood ash, boiling water and the actual seeds.  The tool used in this operation is known to everyone - it is a shovel.

He digs a small bed 2 m long and 60–70 cm wide. He makes holes in it in a checkerboard pattern "through the cage": one, then two, and again one.  The holes should be 60 cm apart.

On our site, the land is heavy, loam, so fertilizers play an important role.  We prepare each hole as follows: make a 10 cm depression, put a handful of humus down, two tablespoons of ash, a handful of earth and mix it all.  Then pour boiling water over this mass, let stand for 5-10 minutes and throw in 2 cucumber seeds.  After that, we cover the seeds with earth and do not water any more.

If cold nights are expected, the hole can be covered with plastic and removed in the morning.  And so - until shoots.  It is best to water in the evenings, when the sun has hidden and a shadow will fall on the garden bed.

We immediately tried this method of planting in our garden.  The seeds began to sprout together in a week, despite the fact that they were planted with different germination times.

I think that every summer resident has already taken root on the plot of their preferred varieties, so I will not give recommendations on the choice.
